Frozen seafood for ready-to-eat and convenience ranges
Epic supplies frozen seafood to manufacturers of ready-to-eat and convenience foods, and frozen finger foods that go straight to the fryer or oven for foodservice and retail snack ranges, in Belgium and across Europe. Epic is an importer and distributor, not a producer: Epic supplies the seafood, the manufacturer makes and brands the finished product. Over 350 products ship from Epic's own distribution center in Kontich, in bulk and on demand. Request a quote or order through the webshop.

Application and ordering
Buyers who search for a ready-to-eat seafood supplier usually mean one of two things: a source of frozen seafood for the ready-to-eat and convenience products they manufacture, or frozen finger foods that are quick to prepare for foodservice and retail snack ranges. Epic covers both as an importer and distributor. Epic buys frozen seafood from a global network of fishermen and farmers and imports and distributes it into Europe from its own distribution center in Kontich; it does not operate its own fishing fleet, farms or production lines for ready meals. Epic is the seafood brand of Hottlet Frozen Foods NV, a family business that has worked in frozen food since 1970. Whether a given reference is eaten as it is, or needs frying, baking or reheating, depends on the product: check its product page or ask Epic before you build a recipe or a label around it.
Frozen seafood for ready meal and convenience manufacturers
Epic delivers frozen seafood in bulk and on demand to food processing companies, ready to be transformed into fresh or frozen convenience foods such as pizzas, lasagnes, fish dishes, stews, ready meals and soups. Epic supplies the seafood input; the manufacturer makes the finished product and sells it under its own brand. Deliveries are lined up with the customer's own production requirements rather than a seasonal supply window, backed by 4,500 pallet positions of continuous frozen storage in Kontich. Quantities and timing are confirmed by Epic per request.
Frozen finger foods for foodservice and retail snack ranges
For snack and appetiser ranges Epic supplies frozen muslitos (imitation surimi crab claws), churros lazo, rabas (breaded squid strips), panko squid rings, crispy torpedo shrimp, Ebi Fry torpedo shrimp and floured chipirones. The product pages describe them as ready to fry or bake, in fixed portion units and cartons, delivered frozen from Kontich. Sizes, units and cartons are listed on each product page.
Cooked and ready-to-use seafood lines
Some lines need less preparation than raw seafood. King crab meat and snow crab meat arrive already cooked and out of the shell. Surimi shrimp and lobster tails are mostly used cold, in salads, cocktails, sushi and buffet dishes, while surimi chunks suit salads, pasta dishes and hot preparations such as soups and gratins. Each product page states how the product is supplied.
Certifications
Epic is certified for IFS Logistics and IFS Broker and works with MSC, ASC and AEO, all audited annually across the whole organization. MSC applies to wild-caught product from sustainably managed fisheries and ASC to the aquaculture-certified references, each only to the references it applies to: check per product before you cite a certification on your own packaging or tender documents. More on audits and the cold chain is on the certificates, food safety and cold chain page.
How to start a request
A good first request names your company and the country you sell in, the product or product group you are looking for, the volume and period you want to discuss, the delivery address, and whether you process the product into your own recipe or sell it under your own label. Send it through the contact form or call +32 3 451 31 31. Existing customers order through the webshop at shop.epic.be.
